Ricketts rep will field questions in Fairbury Thursday morning
As U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts continues an eventful last few weeks of travel and engagements around the state, a member of his team will meet with citizens in Southeast Nebraska in his stead this coming Thursday morning.
Ricketts was previously in Fairbury in late October, shortly before Election Day, when both he and fellow campaigning Senator Deb Fischer separately scheduled appearances in the same town on the same afternoon.
Now, according to an email sent by Ricketts' office to local constituents late last week, on Thursday a member of Ricketts' team will be on hand to "listen to your concerns and offer any assistance you may need in dealing with a federal government agency."
What specifically prompted this particular visit is unclear, but the announcement comes as uncertainty around the future of federally-funded programs with strong local impacts - such as the National Weather Service and education and childcare programs like Head Start - persists.
"Serving Nebraskans and making government more responsive to you, the taxpayer, is a top priority for me as your U.S. Senator," Ricketts' email read. "That is why my team sets up Mobile Office Hours across the state, to be available to you."
The rep will be stationed in the Jefferson County Courthouse from 10:30 to 11:30 AM this coming Thursday, May 8.
