KEARNEY, Neb. - A Central Nebraska school district is set to receive some additional support after the city approved a resolution which would add another resource officer to the district.

On Monday, the Kearney public schools board of education, along with the city government, both approved an update to the memorandum of understanding between the school district and police department.

The updated agreement would allow an additional school recourse officer to join the district, with KPS and the City splitting the costs 50-50.

The original memorandum was agreed upon several years ago, with three school recourse officers currently serving the fifteen schools within the district.
