OMAHA — A Big Springs man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on methamphetamine distribution and firearm charges, according to a news release Friday from U.S. Attorney Lesley A. Woods of the District of Nebraska.

Kenneth M. Johnson, 46, was charged in a three-count indictment that includes two counts of distributing methamphetamine and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to the indictment, Johnson allegedly distributed 50 grams of methamphetamine on two occasions—once on or about July 10, 2023, and again on or about July 14, 2023. Each count carries a possible sentence of 10 years to life in prison, a fine of up to $10 million, a minimum of five years and up to life on supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.

The third count alleges Johnson was in possession of a firearm as a convicted felon on or about January 22, 2025. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, a three-year term of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.

Woods emphasized that indictments are only accusations and that Johnson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

No trial date has been announced.
