DIX -- Storm warnings were posted Thursday from central Colorado to the Nebraska Panhandle.

The village of Dix had its share of damage with downed power lines, broken trees and signs bent almost to the point of broken.

One observer reported a thunderstorm Thursday night that ended and became windy. The wind was exchanged for quiet before the wind returned.

Storms also caused wind damage in the Kimball area Thursday night. The NWS and Nebraska Region 21 Emergency Management determined that this was caused by a severe straight-line wind event. This impacted Kimball to Dix. Observers suspect widespread winds of 60-70 mph  with winds reaching as strong as 80 mph.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
