SIDNEY -- The ladies of Cheyenne County and surrounding areas were invited to shop locally at the annual Girls Day Out event Saturday.

The line stretched south around the block from Health Quest Saturday at the start of Ladies Day Out.

Participating businesses from all points in Sidney welcomed women to experience their services and retail offering from gifts and fashions to keepsakes waiting to be found. Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce President Joe McCarn said the event requires a lot of commitment. He said it takes a lot of prep work and local business involvement.

"The big deal is its kind of like a 'Black Friday' event for our local businesses. It's a time where they put on sales, they put on discounts and promotions, and draw in as much traffic as we can to get them to have a great shopping day for our ladies," McCarn said.

He said Ladies Day Out is more than shopping.

"It really just honors our ladies. It just gives them an opportunity. I mean, who doesn't like to shop. So it gives them an opportunity to get out and experience some of these local businesses," he said.

The day started at Health Quest where shopping bags filled with gifts and discount certificates.
