Saturday is an event-filled day for the United States with protests, birthdays, anniversaries, and more.

There will be a parade in Washington D.C. on Saturday for the Army’s 250th anniversary. It is also President Trump’s 79th birthday as well as Flag Day.

In protest of the celebration there are nearly 2,000 “No Kings” protests happening around the country, as well as some in Canada and Mexico.

“No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance. From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks,” the group said on their website. “We’re taking action to reject authoritarianism—and show the world what democracy really looks like.”

In Nebraska there will be 12 protests across the state.

-North Platte

-Omaha

-Scottsbluff

There is also a protest in Yankton, SD.

According to the website, these protests are not in correlation with the ICE protests happening around the county.

The group says on it's website that a core principle is to be nonviolent and that protestors should attempt to deescalate any confrontation. They also stated no weapons should be brought to any “No Kings” event.
