News Channel Nebraska is televising and streaming the Northeast Nebraska All-Star Football Classic. Coverage starts at 6:45 p.m.

NORFOLK, Neb. — One final Friday night under the lights.

That’s what more than 70 recent high school graduates spent the week preparing for in Norfolk. The Red Team and the White Team will hit the field at 7:00 for the Northeast Nebraska All-Star Football Classic.

“We play all these surrounding schools that are always doing pretty good because northeast Nebraska is full of talent," Hayden Kelley of Norfolk Catholic said. "Being able to play with these guys is awesome.”

“I love football, so just being able to get the opportunity to play in these all-star games with great competition, great athletes from around the state… is really a great opportunity,” Becker Pohlman of Stanton said.

Red Team defensive back Hayden Kelley was a standout at Norfolk Catholic. Practicing at his high school field is a full-circle moment for him.

“I can remember the first time stepping on this field for two-a-days for Coach Bellar," Kelley said. "Now being able to end the week off on this field is pretty unique. I definitely won’t take it for granted.”

Red Team quarterback Braeden Reifenrath is from Cedar Catholic. He doesn’t have the same sentimental feelings about the practice field.

“I’ve never been to fond of Norfolk Catholic," Reifenrath said. "It’s always been one of our rivalries I’d say. But you get to know these guys on a different level and get to know them outside of football, outside of the rivalry, and they’re some of the coolest guys on the team.”

On the White Team, safety Becker Pohlman of Stanton is playing for his high school coach Dave Stoddard and two Stanton assistants.

“Just playing for my coaches one last time is really, really fun for me," Pohlman said. "They’ve taught me so many different things in football and in different aspects of life. I can’t thank them enough.”

Oakland-Craig head coach Joe Anderson is also an assistant for the White Team. His son, Braylon, is a quarterback on the team.

“He’s coaching the offense this time, so I’ll actually get to be with him. I’m looking forward to that,” Anderson said.

Stoddard and Red Team head coach Cody Volk expect a competitive game.

“These guys are good at what they do," Volk said. "It makes it really easy to install an offense, install the defense. They pick stuff up quick. They want to play, that’s why they’re here.”

“We have great football players here that are discipline, they’re fast, they’re physical," Stoddard said. "So everyone has really meshed and done a great job.”
