OMAHA, Neb.- A State Trooper is in the hospital Tuesday after the most serious in a string of crashes.

Colonel Bryan Waugh said that Monday night was the third crash in two weeks involving state patrol cars.

On Tuesday the Nebraska State Patrol held a news conference to discuss this trend and what drivers can do to help.

“When you approach a crash scene, traffic stop, work zone, or even another motorist pulled over onto the shoulder of the roadway.” Waugh said in the news conference, “Move over, slow down and give them room to work safely.”

Waugh also has advised drivers to put the phone down and give the road their full attention.

According to the NSP they have issued 57 citations for the violation of the Move Over Law in 2025 so far.

The last two crashes were on June 22nd and June 12th, both troopers in those incidents made it out unharmed.
