LOUISVILLE, NE - In a Tuesday night matchup between Post 8 Wehling Insurance Nebraska City and Post 353/237 Louisville/Weeping Water, it was Louisville/Weeping Water that escaped trouble early and took advantage of key opportunities for a 6-4 win, as heard on B103.

Brennan DeMike got the start on the mound for Louisville/Weeping Water and he got into some trouble right away in the first inning. With one out, Carter Hoyle singled and then Tristan Kingery doubled to put runners at second and third. DeMike was able to coax a popup to short and a groundout to short to escape unscathed. Louisville/Weeping Water carried that momentum over to the bottom half of the inning, where they scored a run off of Nebraska City starter Riley Penney to make it 1-0 after an inning.

Nebraska City answered right back with a run of their own, thanks to two walks and an RBI-single from Trevor Flash to tie it back up at one.

After a scoreless bottom of the second and a top of the third that saw Nebraska City unable to push a run across after loading the bags with no one out, Louisville/Weeping Water took advantage in the bottom of the third.

Sayler Rhodes led off the frame with a single. Then, Alex Sorensen was hit by a pitch and Niklas Sorensen walked to load the bases with no outs. Dayton Carlson singled to score a run and make it 2-1. Penney was able to get a strikeout but allowed another run on an RBI-single from DeMike. Logan Tummons followed by grounding into a fielder's choice to score the third run of the inning and push the lead to 4-1. With Kanon Albert at the plate, Tummons stole second and Carlson scored from third on the throwing error from the catcher Kingery. Finally, the nine-hole batter, Brady Abbott, singled to score another run and make it a 6-1 Louisville/Weeping Water lead after three innings of play.

Nebraska City immediately cut into the deficit in the top of the fourth. A walk to Trevor Tesarek followed by a sac bunt moved Tesarek over to third with just one out. Tesarek would then score on a wild pitch and make it 6-2. Sam Rovetto would later walk and advance to second before scoring on an RBI-single from Kingery that moved it to 6-3.

Riley Penney sent Louisville/Weeping Water down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the fourth and brought the Nebraska City offense back to the plate in the fifth. A leadoff walk to Derek Van Arsdol, one of eight walks on the night from DeMike, would set the offense in motion. A Penney bunt moved Van Arsdol to second and he reached base on an error. James Fairbanks would advance runners to second and third with a bunt of his own before Tesarek would get a run home on an RBI-groundout. Nebraska City was only able to get one run across as it remained a 6-4 game.

That would be the final score as Wehling Insurance Nebraska City stranded a runner at second in the top of the seventh.
