Endangered missing advisory issued for Pine Ridge woman

PINE RIDGE, S.D. – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a 69-year-old woman who was taken from a care facility in Pine Ridge without necessary medical equipment or medication.
The South Dakota Department of Criminal Investigation has issued an Endangered Missing Advisory for Elizabeth “Jackie” Big Crow. According to a new release, Elizabeth’s son, William Big Crow, 42, removed Elizabeth from the facility on July 6 without notifying other family members. Authorities say William said he was taking her to a medical appointment in Sioux Falls, but it was later determined that she didn’t have an appointment scheduled.
Elizabeth suffered a stroke and requires continuous medical care. Authorities believe she could be in danger due to her complex medical needs and the fact that she was taken without proper medical supplies.
She was last seen wearing pajamas and slippers and is known to wear glasses. She is described as a Native American woman, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 139 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.
William Big Crow is a Native American man, 6 feet tall, 245 pounds, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. The two may be traveling in a gray 2012 Ford Fusion with South Dakota license plate 9549N. The car also has Marine Veteran specialty plates.
Anyone who sees Elizabeth or William Big Crow, or the vehicle they may be traveling in, is urged to call the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety at (605) 867-5111. Authorities caution not to approach them and to instead report any sightings immediately.
