VALENTINE, Neb. – The Valentine Police Department made several arrests and responded to more than 40 calls for service during the week of July 6 through July 12, 2025.

On July 6 around 7:55 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance on Dowden Street involving two intoxicated men. A 44-year-old and a 43-year-old man, both from Nebraska, were arrested for disturbing the peace and taken to the Cherry County Jail.

Two days later, on July 8 at 9:25 p.m., police were called to the 800 block of Dowden Street for an assault complaint. A 28-year-old South Dakota woman was arrested for third-degree assault and on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Police are also investigating a burglary that happened over the Fourth of July weekend at a residence in the 900 block of Moon Street. Several items were reported stolen, including an Oculus virtual reality headset. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Valentine Police Department.

In total, Valentine officers responded to 42 calls for service during the week. Those included:

  • 2 assaults
  • 2 thefts
  • 3 municipal code violations
  • 3 welfare checks
