Pickleball courts now officially open in Norfolk
NORFOLK, Neb.- Pickleball players in Norfolk are getting the ball rolling at the new courts.
A ribbon cutting Wednesday honored the donors and the communities efforts in the project.
Founders courts are dedicated to Mike Wingate's parents, Skip and Marilyn Wingate.
Wingate has said that he believes the community needed somewhere for all ages to come together.
"I think it gives Norfolk a huge opportunity, especially if they wanted to increase the amount of courts and things over time," Wingate said. "As pickleball picks up in Norfolk that they could be doing tournaments and that would bring a ton of people into Norfolk to play pickleball throughout the summers."
The project got underway from a $300,000 donation from Wingate, Tom Schueth, and Bryan Adams around a year a half ago.
The courts were officially opened around a month ago.
