Senator Ricketts sends new bill to Congress Pertaining to Veterans
NEBRASKA-
Senator Pete Ricketts and Senator Angus King of Maine are sending a new bill to congress over veteran's medical care.
The CARING for our Veterans Health Act of 2025' focuses on the nearly 75 percent of veterans that return to medical centers with the VA for continued care after receiving services from community providers.
The switch makes the exchange of medical documentation between providers essential to ensuring continuity of care.
Ricketts' office says that the office of Integrated Veteran Care currently lacks system wide visibility, which jeopardizes oversight and clinical coordination.
he hopes to improve this by creating a smoother process for vets and their medical processes.
“Our Veterans were willing to sacrifice their lives for us. We can never repay that debt. Part of what we can do is making sure we’re taking care of these veterans when they need medical care,” said Ricketts
The bill would require a section of the VA to ensure tracking of medical documentation after a veteran receives care from a community provider.
It would also measure the performance of obtaining community care records.
