SIDNEY, Neb. — Country music star Hunter Hayes blew the roof off (literally) the Cheyenne County Fair & Rodeo Friday night in Sidney, delivering a powerful performance full of optimism, energy and his new and old songs.
The concert, originally scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., was delayed after issues arose with the primary stage setup. Two of the motors on the stage roof malfunctioned and the roof couldn't be raised in time for the show. Fair board members and volunteers worked quickly to move the show to a secondary stage.
Once the music started, five-time Grammy nominee Hunter Hayes made it worth the wait. Known for his instrumental chops and emotional lyrics, Hayes treated fans to crowd favorites including “Wanted,” “Storm Warning” and “I Want Crazy.”
Opening act Brendan Walter kept spirits high before the headliner took the stage, performing original tracks and cover favorites. He began his show with an acoustic show due to the primary generator failing, cutting power to the stage.
The 139th Annual Cheyenne County Fair wrapped up Saturday with the Rumble on the Rails Demolition Derby.
