SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — A motorcyclist was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries following a crash involving a van outside McDonald’s in Scottsbluff on Saturday afternoon.

Scottsbluff police say officers were dispatched to the restaurant entrance at approximately 1:31 p.m. for a reported collision between a van and a motorcycle. Upon arrival, officers found the motorcyclist, 38-year-old Kevin McCathern Jr. of Scottsbluff, injured at the scene.

According to investigators, 60-year-old Jerry Hall Jr. of Scottsbluff was driving a van eastbound on W. 27th Street and entered the center turn lane before attempting to turn north into the McDonald’s parking lot. McCathern was traveling westbound in the right-hand lane when the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the van.

Scottsbluff Fire and EMS responded and transported McCathern to Regional West Medical Center. Authorities say his injuries are not life-threatening.

No citations were issued at the scene. Scottsbluff police say charges are pending as they continue reviewing surveillance footage related to the crash.
