Night of Hope Walk for Cancer celebrates 25 years
SIDNEY -- The community gathered in support of those impacted by cancer Friday for the 25th Night of Hope Cancer Walk.
The Walk supports those diagnosed with cancer and remembers the ones who lost their battle with the disease.
The annual event is held at Legion Park. Night of Hope Board of Directors President Kim Phillips said numbers were lower, but the focus remains supporting local cancer patients.
"The Night of Hope Walk just celebrated our 25th year. It was a traditional night. It as a beautiful night; very different than last year's 53 degrees, but we'll take the 83 degree weather. We did the Survivors Lap; not as many survivors out there this year as we've had in the past," said Phillips.
She said the night included activities for all ages.
"We did our traditional luminary ceremony, and our ever-favorite chair-ity auction with the free-will barbecue, kids games. The wind had its way with the Photo Booth so we didn't get that up and going," she said.
She said the numbers are a little lower than in recent years, but the cause will continue supporting cancer patients and their families.
"The overall night was really good. I think it was a little lower than a few years, but we did well, and we'll continue to support our cancer patients hopefully for the next 25 years," she said.
Guns and Hoses is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, August 16.
"We'll lead into Guns & Hoses on Saturday, August 16 at 4 o'clock at our new location, Legion Field, in downtown beautiful Legion Park. We hope that you all support us there. We'll have those available if you'd like to purchase one, and we'll have the concession stand going. It'll just be a fun night for Guns vs Hoses," Phillips said.
This will be the 8th Guns vs Hoses with Guns leading 5-2.
