OGALLALA, Neb. – Western Nebraska will welcome a new entertainment destination Tuesday with the grand opening of the Lake Mac Casino Resort & Racetrack.

The facility will open its doors at 1 p.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 2 p.m. The first official quarter horse races will follow at 3 p.m., marking the return of quarter horse racing to Nebraska. The casino will open shortly after. Guests will also be treated to a complimentary meal catered by Ole’s Big Game Steakhouse & Lounge between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. next to the new 5/8-mile racetrack.

Live entertainment is planned inside the casino throughout the evening, with Drew Phillips performing from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Dave Lerbakken from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

The resort will open initially with a temporary casino offering more than 300 slot machines, electronic table games, a sportsbook, live simulcast and a sports bar. Future plans include a hotel, indoor and outdoor pool, multiple dining options, and RV parking.

Elite Casino Resorts now operates two properties in Nebraska, including the Grand Island Casino Resort. The company’s total investment in Nebraska exceeds $250 million, with more than 600 employees statewide.

The casino will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m.
