KEARNEY, Neb. - Two men are dead after a plane crash in Central Nebraska.

Police confirmed that 77-year-old Dr. Mark Meyer and 72-year-old Kent Magnuson, both of rural Kearney, were the two men killed in the crash.

First responders in Kearney located the plane wreckage just after 10 a.m. Thursday with assistance from drones operated by the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office and Kearney Police.

The aircraft was reported overdue Wednesday night, after it lost contact en route to Kearney Regional Airport.

The crashed Cessna was found near the intersection at 145th and Imperial road, according to police.

A multi-agency search began Wednesday night and resumed early Thursday morning, using drones, patrol vehicles and ground teams.

The FAA and NTSB are now leading the investigation.
