Pierce holds off late rally to beat Aurora in season-opening thriller
PIERCE - A touchdown that wasn't ended up being the difference between Pierce and Aurora on Friday.
A 48-yard touchdown run by Husky senior Ian Jensen was called back by a holding penalty in the third quarter on a drive that stalled at the two, and the Blue Jays held off Aurora by a one-touchdown margin, 27-21.
Twice Aurora found itself down two scores, and each time the Huskies would find a way to respond. But after junior transfer Wyatt Pollett connected with wideout Ryan Staehr on a 33-yd touchdown pass with 3:35 to go, Aurora would not get the ball back, as Pierce's dominant rushing attack ran out the clock.
The Blue Jays finished with 424 yards rushing, and defeated Aurora for the second straight season.
