FALLS CITY, NE - The Falls City Tigers came back to slip past the Palmyra Panthers in week one of the Nebraska high school football season, 22-21, as heard on B103.

Palmyra got off to a hot start, but they just couldn't close it out. Quarterback Dave Stansberry hit Dylan Reel for a 90-yard score and a 7-0 lead after the defense kept Falls City off the board on the first drive of the game.

After getting stopped at the 10-yard line on their opening drive, the Tigers were stymied at the half-yard line on their second drive, as the Panthers came through clutch on "D" again. Stansberry finished the 99.5-yard drive with a 57-yard connection to Leyton Mapson for a two-score advantage.

FC responded with a score before halftime to head into the locker room trailing 14-6.

Jaxson Chambers ran one in for Palmyra to start the second half scoring, giving his squad a 21-6 advantage. FC QB Blakely Sells led his team back with a 21-yard TD toss & a 30-yard TD run.

Palmyra's Stansberry went 16/27 passing for 300 yards and two scores, but he was picked off three times - twice by Jayton Wilkerson & once by Orion Cattrell. Mapson grabbed nine of those throws for 156 yards and a TD. Chambers led the Panthers' running game with 60 yards on 12 carries with one score.

Sells was responsible for almost all of the home team's offense. He was 8/14 passing for 63 yards & one score, and he added in 15 carries for 102 yards and two more scores.

Overall, Palmyra led FC in yardage, 331-245, but their turnovers cost them.

Next up for the Tigers is another home contest as they host Omaha Brownell Talbot on Friday. Palmyra will look to bounce back when they host Superior this week.
