Potter-Dix sweeps Leyton behind Shoemaker sisters

POTTER, Neb. — Alexa and Kenzie Shoemaker combined for 21 kills to lead Potter-Dix past Leyton, 3-0, in a volleyball match Monday night.
Alexa Shoemaker, a sophomore, finished with 13 kills and four blocks, while her sister Kenzie, a senior, added eight kills and two aces. Senior Micayla McConnell set the pace with 29 assists to go along with two kills and two aces. As a team, the Coyotes tallied 31 kills, 10 aces and five blocks.
Leyton was led by senior Macey Roelle, who posted seven kills and one ace. Senior Aspen Snyder added a kill as the Warriors finished with eight kills, two aces and seven assists.
With the win, Potter-Dix improved to 3-6 and will will play in the Paxton Tournament next Tuesday. Leyton dropped to 3-6 and travels to Bayard on Sept. 23 for a triangular with the Tigers and Garden County.
