Cheyenne County Country returns to 95.7 FM after lightning strike last month

SIDNEY – Cheyenne County Country is back on the FM dial after a lightning strike during a Sept. 16 thunderstorm temporarily knocked the station off the air.
The strike damaged broadcasting equipment at the station’s tower in Legion Park, taking both signals down. Programming returned to 1340 AM on the next morning, while the 95.7 FM signal remained off until replacement equipment was installed.
Flood Communications confirmed Wednesday evening the 95.7 FM signal is now restored. Cheyenne County Country listeners can once again tune in on both AM and FM, as well as online at newschannelnebraska.com and through the News Channel Nebraska app.
The station carries a mix of classic country music, Sidney High School sports and Nebraska volleyball broadcasts.
987 The Big Boy (98.7 FM) was unaffected by the outage and remained on-air.
