Falls City-Sacred Heart Drops Epic Battle With Weeping Water in Overtime
FALLS CITY, NE - Weeping Water kept Falls City-Sacred Heart out of the win column with a narrow road win on Friday night, 72-64, in overtime...as heard on B103.
The game was tight all night long, staying within one score at the end of each quarter. Tied at 64, the teams went into bonus football, where Weeping Water would get the ball first. The visiting squad was able to find the end zone & recorded a 2-point conversion for an 8-point lead, and FC-SH was unable to find pay dirt once they got their chance.
Weeping Water quarterback Tucker Bickford was 10/14 passing for 199 yards and three scores, while adding in 16 carries for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Luke Harms ran the rock 10 times for 160 yards and two scores, and he had two TD grabs on four total receptions that gained another 124 yards. Jake McGill also had a big game with 17 carries for 142 yards and three scores to go with one catch for a 24-yard TD. In a game that didn't sound like it had much defense, Kolby Nash recorded an interception and Jeremiah Keene had three sacks!
Falls City-Sacred Heart saw Brendon Lemerond toss the pigskin for 289 yards and six scores in the loss. He also would up with 61 yards on the ground and another score there. Noah Howard piled up eight catches for 150 yards with four touchdowns. The other TD catches came from Cole Taft & Elijah Canonico. Kayden Groth led the ground game for the Irish with two scores and 76 yards on the turf.
Weeping Water is now 3-1 with the victory, while Falls City-Sacred Heart sits at 0-4. WW will host Cedar Bluffs on Friday, while FC-SH visits H-TR-S in a battle of winless teams (catch that game on B103).
