ELWOOD, Neb. – The 13th Annual Team Jack Radiothon will air Thursday, Sept. 25, across Nebraska, raising awareness and funds for pediatric brain cancer research. News Channel Nebraska will carry the radiothon on their Sidney radio station Cheyenne County Country (1340 AM, newschannelnebraska.com and the free NCN app).

The event, broadcast live from Elwood, features stories from families impacted by childhood brain cancer, the leading cause of death by disease in children. Listeners will also hear from special guests, including Gov. Jim Pillen, former Husker Rex Burkhead, comedian Larry the Cable Guy, and Nebraska athletes such as Luke Gifford, Sam Hoiberg, Bergen Reilly and Luke Lindenmeyer.

Since its start in 2013, the Radiothon has raised nearly $1.5 million for pediatric brain cancer research. Last year’s broadcast generated $200,000 in a single day.

“Hosting the Radiothon in Elwood is always a special honor,” said Jim Baldonado of The Home Agency. “The generosity we see each year, both locally and beyond, is incredible, and we’re hopeful this year will make an even greater impact for kids battling brain cancer.”

Listeners can donate by calling 855-RUN-JACK (855-786-5225) or by giving online at teamjackfoundation.org. Donors will be eligible for prizes, including the Ultimate Husker Fan Experience package.

The Team Jack Foundation has committed $6.5 million toward developing a childhood brain tumor program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha.
