BROADWATER — A Broadwater man was arrested after deputies with the Morrill County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire late on Sept. 21.

Deputies were dispatched around 10:48 p.m. to the 200 block of East Ohio Street after witnesses reported hearing a gunshot. Investigators discovered evidence that multiple rounds had been fired.

A search warrant was later executed at the residence of John E. Looser, where deputies found several firearms. Authorities said Looser is a prohibited person and not legally allowed to possess firearms or deadly weapons.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Morrill County Jail, where he was booked on several felony charges related to the disturbance and illegal possession of firearms.

The case remains under investigation.
