Sidney celebrates 51st Oktoberfest
SIDNEY -- Excitement and celebration carried much of the 51st Sidney Oktoberfest.
The annual celebration officially started noon Friday with the ceremonial Tapping of the Keg.
The Sidney High School Combo No. 1 entered the stage after, followed by Sidney High Combo No. 2. Just For Kix Dance Varsity Team and JFK Shooting Stars Hip Hop then came on stage.
The special moment of the weekend came Saturday after the parade. a musical tribute was held for Judy Harris. Judy Harris had been an active part of organizing the Oktoberfest for many years until her passing in April of this year.
Trevon Newman led the crowd in Line Dancing. A stage performance of "Wicked" entertained the crowd.
Saturday started with the parade. The Husker game was broadcast as people made their way toward the food vendors and beer garden.
Saturday also included performances by the Denver & District Pipe Band & Dancers, Los Guadalupanos and Open Mic Night hosted by Keep Sidney Beautiful.
A craft fair was held in the 4-H Building and livestock pavilion, and the Wiener Dog Races were held Sunday at the Pavilion.
