North Platte man sentenced to prison for sexual assault of minor

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A North Platte man was sentenced to prison in Lincoln County District Court Monday for the third-degree sexual assault of a minor.

Alexander Reed, 29, was sentenced to two years at the Nebraska Department of Corrections with 271 days credit for time served. He will undergo 18 months of post release supervision and must also register as a sex offender for a period of 25 years.

According to the North Platte Police Department, the victim’s mother told police her daughter, who is under the age of ten, was sexually assaulted by Reed on three separate occasions.

When questioned by investigators, Reed first denied the allegations but later admitted details about the assaults and gave police a written statement describing each incident, court documents show.
