Friends of the Niobrara Receives $50,000 Grant from the National Park Foundation

VALENTINE, Neb. - Friends of the Niobrara is proud to share it has received a $50,000 grant from the National Park Foundation (NPF), the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service. Awarded as part of the Collective Campaign, a cornerstone of The Campaign for National Parks, this grant will help advance Friends’ ongoing commitment to preserving, protecting, and enhancing the Niobrara National Scenic River—for everyone, forever.
This grant will allow us to grow our fundraising, outreach, and partnership efforts so we can better meet the challenges ahead and continue building long-term support for this remarkable river,” said Kimberly Stuhr, President of Friends of the Niobrara.
The flexible funding recognizes Friends of the Niobrara’s strong belief in partnership and collective stewardship of the National Scenic Niobrara River. With this grant, Friends will expand fundraising capacity, address current challenges, and build for the future.
This grant is part of a broader national effort between the National Park Foundation, the National Park Friends Alliance, and more than 100 park partner organizations—including Friends of the Niobrara—to collectively raise $4.5 billion by 2028, strengthening the philanthropic foundation of our national parks.
The Campaign for National Parks supports essential investments in land and wildlife conservation, historic preservation, and visitor infrastructure. Together with the National Park Foundation and park partners across the country, Friends of the Niobrara is helping to ensure that our national parks—including the Niobrara National Scenic River—will be protected and enjoyed by visitors today and for generations to come.
