SIDNEY, Neb. - Two area school districts are adjusting their schedules Friday to allow students, staff and families to support their football teams in the opening round of the Nebraska School Activities Association playoffs.

Sidney Public Schools Superintendent Andrew Farber announced that the Red Raiders, who finished the regular season 9-0 and captured the district championship, will host Pierce at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Weymouth Field. Classes will dismiss at noon to give the community time to attend the game. The game will also air on Cheyenne County Country (1340 AM, 95.7 FM).

“Congratulations to our players and coaches on this outstanding accomplishment,” Farber said. “Thank you for your flexibility and continued support - let’s show our Raider pride and cheer the team on to victory.”

Leyton Public Schools also announced early dismissals ahead of its home playoff game against Pawnee City, scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday in Dalton. The Dalton campus will dismiss at 1 p.m., while Gurley will dismiss at 1:10 p.m. The Warriors game with the Indians will be carried on 987 The Big Boy.

Both Sidney and Leyton games will be available online at newschannelnebraska.com and the free NCN app.

Because the matchup is an NSAA postseason contest, no activity passes will be accepted, and admission will be $8 for adults and $6 for students.

Leyton’s elementary Trunk or Treat and Halloween parade in Gurley will take place earlier in the day, beginning at noon.
