KEARNEY, Neb — Kearney High School has a new leader for its softball program.


Kearney Public Schools announcing that Jake Redman has been named head coach, beginning with the 2026 season.


Redman is a Kearney native and 2012 Kearney High graduate. He’s taught Social Studies at the school since 2022 and joined the softball coaching staff in 2023, serving as JV coach for the past three seasons.

Redman said in a news release that he is honored and excited to lead the team.

"We’ve got a hardworking group of athletes, and I look forward to helping them grow and represent Kearney High with pride,” said Redman.


He’s also spent more than a decade coaching high school and Legion baseball in Kearney and Grand Island.
