NEBRASKA CITY, NE - The Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer Titans traveled to Nebraska City Tuesday night to take on the Lourdes Central Catholic Knights in the Class D1-1 Subdistrict final. It was the host Knights that came away victorious in straight sets (14, 23, 17), as heard on B103.

Both teams traded side outs in the early going but midway through the first set, Brooklyn Walton checked in for Lourdes as a serving specialist and went on a long run from the service line to help the Knights extend their lead to seven. Outsides Mikena Haag and and Mia White got off to quick starts for Lourdes as well, as they pulled away for a 25-14 first set victory.

HTRS punched back in the second. The Titans were able to push the Knights to the brink as middle Ellie Bstandig started to terminate for kills after a slower start to her first set. Their service pressure also started to pick up as the Titans went on a run late in set two to make it close, but LCC made plays late and was able to take the set 25-23 and a commanding 2-0 lead.

In the third, it was more of the same, as both teams' service pressure had their moments. The Knights finished the night with 14 aces while HTRS had eight. Lillian Bowen had five of her seven kills in the third set as she tried to will her squad to a victory and force a fourth set, but White and Brooklyn Borer had solid third sets offensively, and it was enough to give the Knights a 25-17 win in the third and a sweep over the Titans.

White finished with a team-high eight kills for the Knights, Mary Misner added six out of the middle and Haag ended the night with five. Bstandig led the Titans with nine and Bowen added seven in the loss.

Lourdes will await their placement for Districts as they improve to 20-10. HTRS falls to 15-15.
