Norfolk PD breaks ground on $7M expansion project
Norfolk, Neb. – The Norfolk Police Department has officially broken ground on a voter-approved $7 million expansion project. The initiative includes digging and preparations for extensive facility renovations.
According to Norfolk Nebraska Police Captain Mike Bauer, the project will introduce an estimated 14,000-square-foot, two-story addition to alleviate current space constraints. "As of right now, we have limited space for our employees in this existing building," Bauer noted, "and officers have to do some work in the hallways, instead of having an office to be in."
The expansion is set to include a new garage, bathrooms, workout and break room, and additional indoor garage space. Plans also involve a complete revamp of the existing building. While an official completion date is pending, Bauer suggested that the department aims to fully renovate and occupy the new addition as early as 2027.
