Dundy County-Stratton sweeps Garden County for first state volleyball win

LINCOLN, Neb. - Dundy County-Stratton earned its first-ever victory at the Nebraksa High School State Volleyball Tournament with a 3-0 sweep over Garden County on Thursday at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln. The Tigers took the Class D2 quarterfinal in straight sets, 25-20, 25-20, 25-17.
Junior Emily Schack led the way for Dundy County-Stratton with 15 kills and two ace serves, while the Spargo sisters dominated at the net. Sophomore Abi Spargo totaled 12 kills and five blocks, and senior Clara Spargo added 11 kills and five blocks.
Garden County, making its first state tournament appearance since 2019, was led by junior Kirstyn Beberniss, who finished with 10 kills, seven assists, three blocks and an ace. Senior Ridglyn Stanczyk contributed six kills, eight assists, two aces and a block in her final match for the Eagles
With the win, Dundy County-Stratton improved to 27-6 and advances to face top-seed Wynot in the Class D2 semifinals Friday at 8 a.m. MT. Garden County ends its season with a 30-4 record.
