Central Nebraska Veterans Treatment Court celebrates graduation
KEARNEY, Neb. — The Central Nebraska Veterans Treatment Court marking another milestone this week by celebrating the graduation of Army National Guard veteran Eric Nesiba.
The program, part of Nebraska’s Problem Solving Courts, provides justice-involved veterans with intensive supervision, treatment and mentorship.
Participants who successfully complete all phases of the program have their charges dismissed and sealed, giving them a fresh start.
Problem Solving Court Coordinator Angela Smith said the program addresses the unique challenges veterans face, including trauma, mental health, and substance use while connecting them with mentors and VA resources.
“Veterans come to us with different needs and challenges. We take a lot of time to learn about what they’ve been through during their service and work closely with the VA to meet those needs,” said Smith.
Graduations like Eric's highlight the program’s success. Nesiba served as a medic in Iraq and completed all five phases of the program, earning both a certificate and a challenge coin to mark his accomplishment.
The Central Nebraska Veterans Treatment Court continues to serve veterans in Hall and Buffalo Counties, supporting their reintegration into the community and providing tools for long-term success.
The program started back in 2021.
