COLUMBUS - Winning in the postseason is all about overcoming adversity, and Sidney saw plenty in their 28-24 win over Columbus Lakeview in the Class C1 semis.

After scoring first, the Red Raiders were held to just 60 total yards in the first half, while the Vikings rattled off 17 unanswered to take a ten-point halftime lead.

A 33-yd TD pass from junior QB Rylin Viergutz to senior Blake Rathbone game Lakeview an eleven-point lead.

From there, it was all Sidney. 

The Red Raiders held the Vikings in check the rest of the game, and rode junior running back Rhys Dorcey to two second-half scores, including the game winner with 5:57 to go.

Sidney now advances to a football state championship game for the first time in school history. This was their third straight appearance in the semifinals.

Lakeview finishes the year 11-1.
