NORFOLK, Neb.— A historic building in downtown Norfolk is turning into something new after approval of a zoning change Monday.

The Norfolk City Council voted to approve the change from commercial to residential for the old Carnegie Library.

Carnegie Library Lofts LLC. will be turning the building into four short-term rental units. The units will range from 1-3 bedrooms, according to the new owner Audrey Fisher.

Fisher grew up in Norfolk before moving to Colorado after college. She says the goal of the project is to make people feel like they are staying inside the library, keeping the original architecture and look.

The building located at 803 W Norfolk Ave has been previously occupied by businesses.
