NORFOLK, Neb.— Winter is around the corner and Norfolk is preparing by approving the snow plan for the 25-26 season.

The city council approved the plan proposed by the City of Norfolk Street Division during Mondays meeting.

According to street manager Will Elwell, the first priority when clearing streets is the emergency snow routes and the downtown business district.

Elwell said the goals of the emergency routes is so residents won’t have to travel more than six blocks to a paved road.

City crews will work closely with police to enforce parking rules such as parking on the even side of the road when it snows and no parking on emergency routes during a snow emergency.

Alaska Avenue from Riverside Boulevard to U.S. Highway 81

Bluff Avenue from Pasewalk Avenue to Chestnut Street

Boxelder Street (north) from Norfolk Avenue to End of Boxelder Street

Chestnut Street from Omaha Avenue to Bluff Avenue

Cottonwood Street from Norfolk Avenue to Klug Avenue

Elm Avenue from 1st Street to 4th Street

Georgia Avenue from Riverside Boulevard to 13th Street

Klug Avenue from 1st Street to Boxelder Street

Legacy Drive from Sunrise Drive to North end of Legacy Drive

Sunrise Drive from Victory Road to Legacy Drive

Maple Avenue from Victory Road to East city limits

Pasewalk Avenue (east) from 1st Street to Bluff Avenue

Prospect Avenue from 4th Street to 27th Street

Prospect Avenue from 1st Street to Cottonwood Street

Queen City Boulevard from Prospect Avenue to Benjamin Avenue

Sunrise Drive from Victory Road to Legacy Drive

Legacy Drive from Sunrise Drive to North end of Legacy Drive
