Christmas on the Prairie returns to Pioneer Village in Minden
MINDEN, Neb. — Minden is spreading holiday cheer this weekend with the return of Christmas on the Prairie at Harold Warp Pioneer Village.
The two-day event blends holiday activities with a celebration of Nebraska’s prairie history.
Saturday, Dec. 6, focuses on family-friendly activities, including holiday crafts, carousel rides, and vintage-style pictures with Santa. Sunday, Dec. 7, features a church music service, live performances, and continued festive experiences.
Pioneer Village Volunteer coordinator Alan Farlin says, “We’ve had this event for the last three years and really enjoy renewing the celebration. We get a lot of different activities going for the kids, and Santa comes, too.”
The celebration also showcases traditional crafts and reenactments by local artisans, giving visitors a hands-on glimpse of early prairie life.
The community jumped in, volunteers came forward, artisans started doing reenactments—so it’s really become a tradition people look forward to,” said farlin.
Christmas on the Prairie runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Regular museum admission applies, and carousel rides are included.
