Bridgeport speech team wins Class C/D title at Scottsbluff meet

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — Bridgeport High School’s speech team captured first place overall and the Class C/D championship at the Scottsbluff Speech Meet on Saturday.
Kendal Deaver led the way for Bridgeport with a first-place finish in Serious Prose and a second-place result in Original Oratory Interpretation. The Bulldogs also posted strong performances in Poetry, Program of Oral Interpretation, Persuasive Speaking and Humorous Interpretation.
Taylor Bright earned second place in Program of Oral Interpretation, while Alexis Liras finished second in both Poetry and Original Oratory Interpretation. Lizzy Higgins placed third in Persuasive Speaking and third in Original Oratory Interpretation, and Emma Dohse took third in Entertainment Speaking along with a third-place finish in Original Oratory Interpretation.
In Humorous Interpretation, Aaron Cooper finished third and added a second-place result in Original Oratory Interpretation. Coote Mulloy placed fourth in Humorous Interpretation and third in Original Oratory Interpretation, while Benjamin Babic earned fifth in Humorous Interpretation and second in Original Oratory Interpretation.
Additional top-six finishes included Mila Soto with fifth in Poetry and third in Original Oratory Interpretation, Annabel Sauer with fifth in Informative Speaking, Jane Plummer with sixth in Informative Speaking, Drake Devrous with third in Original Oratory Interpretation, and Emily Hunter with a second-place finish in Original Oratory Interpretation.
