Columbus, Neb. – Columbus is expanding its housing options through the efforts of NeighborWorks Northeast Nebraska, a non-profit organization. The group is adding 15 new housing units to the Quail Meadows neighborhood, aimed at providing affordable housing opportunities for residents.

According to Roger Nadrchal, CEO of NeighborWorks Northeast Nebraska, the project includes 14 townhomes, configured as seven buildings with two units each, and one single-family home available for purchase. This initiative seeks to provide affordable homeownership options for families and individuals.

NeighborWorks opted for an innovative approach to expedite the construction process. Instead of traditional on-site construction, they partnered with BonnaVilla Homes in Aurora, Nebraska, which specializes in customized modular homes. This decision allowed them to order all 15 units in advance. The units were completed in the factory by September 2025 and stored in Aurora, awaiting delivery.

NeighborWorks Northeast Nebraska also offers down payment assistance to eligible homebuyers who meet their income guidelines. This assistance includes a 0% loan, ranging from $20,000 to $30,000, which is repayable upon the sale or move-out of the property.

While there has been interest from potential buyers, the homes are not yet ready for sale. NeighborWorks is collaborating with Columbus Realtors to finalize a listing agreement and determine the prices. The properties are expected to be listed for sale this spring or summer.
