Valentine woman sentenced to 8 to 16 years for stabbing

VALENTINE, Neb. — A Valentine woman has been sentenced to 8 to 16 years in prison for a stabbing that left a man injured.
Sharayne Herman, 28, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault. A second felony charge, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, was dismissed.
According to an arrest affidavit, Valentine Police responded July 16 to a residence in the 300 block of North Valentine Street. Officers found a man suffering from a stab wound to the upper left side of his chest, near his heart. The victim was treated at the scene by EMS.
An officer reported giving Herman multiple commands to stand up, which she ignored. She was eventually taken into custody without incident.
The affidavit states the victim told authorities that Herman came home drunk, argued with him and stabbed him during the confrontation.
Court records show Herman has several previous convictions, including trespassing, assault, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.
