Garden County sweeps Creek Valley

Garden County completed a sweep of Creek Valley on Tuesday night in Oshkosh, as the Lady Eagles earned a 55-14 win and the Eagles boys followed with a 67-34 victory.

OSHKOSH, Neb. — Garden County earned a sweep of Creek Valley on Tuesday night in Oshkosh, as the Lady Eagles rolled to a 55-14 win before the Eagles boys closed the doubleheader with a 67-34 victory.

In the girls game, Garden County was led by senior Ridglyn Stanczyk, who scored 16 points to pace the Lady Eagles. Sophomore Kenley Dehning added 15 points, while senior Bre Yates finished with 11.

Garden County connected on four 3-pointers and went 4 of 8 from the free-throw line.

Creek Valley was led by sophomore Airvee Bauer with five points, while junior Catherine Tillman added four. The Lady Storm made one 3-pointer and finished 2 of 4 at the free-throw line.

In the boys contest, Garden County pulled away with a strong fourth quarter behind senior Lane Brenneman, who scored a game-high 25 points. Sophomore Blake Dean followed with 19 points, and senior Wilsie Lobner added nine.

The Eagles made one 3-pointer and went 14 of 25 from the free-throw line.

Creek Valley was led by sophomore P.J. Schultz with 12 points, including 10 in the first half. Seniors Zander Polk and Mason Timm each scored seven.

The Garden County girls improved to 6-11, while the Eagles boys moved to 13-4. Both teams will travel to Potter-Dix for their next games.

Creek Valley’s girls dropped to 0-14 and will play at Hay Springs on Feb. 3. The Storm boys fell to 4-10 and are scheduled to play at Morrill on Saturday afternoon.
