SIDNEY – Support of Sidney’s FFA chapter showed itself well before Friday’s event.

This year, the dinner was free with a donation and offered steak and/or shrimp. The dinner was sponsored by local supporters.

Proceeds from the Labor Auction supports club activities. Club President Josette McConnell said community support helps members attend FFA events.

“Now, this year State Convention is coming up just at the end of March, and we are very fortunate that we are able to send multiple teams and multiple individuals,” McConnell said in Friday’s event.

She thanked people who drive vans transporting students to events.

“We are very fortunate to thank those who drive vans to competitions. That helps us more than we will ever be able to truly say. Thank you to those who help teams, who help teams prepare for competitions, having experts in our community who are so knowledgeable, and who are willing to help, truly adds so much value to our teams that we are unable to express as much as it is deserved,” she said.

In addition to the steak and shrimp dinner, there was a silent auction, live auction and auction of members’ labor.

After Friday’s dinner and auction, McConnell spoke about the importance of the event and community support.

“Tonight was our Sidney FFA Labor Auction. This is our sixth annual, and we were able to sell our members in our labor auction, but we were also able to sell multiple items donated by local businesses in our live auction and in our silent auction. Thank you to everyone who was able to support this night. It truly means the world in helping our chapter be able to continue what we do,” she said.

Final results of the auctions are not available yet.
