Nebraska volleyball will play its third and final spring match in Chadron on Saturday, April 25. The Huskers will take on Northern Colorado at the Chicoine Center. First serve is set for Noon (MT)/1 p.m. (CT). Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. (MT).

For the fifth consecutive year, a Nebraska spring match will be televised statewide on Nebraska Public Media and streamed online on B1G+. In addition to television and streaming coverage, the match will air on select Huskers Radio Network affiliates and the official Huskers App.

Tickets will go on sale to the public on March 26 at 6 p.m. at Chadron State's Don Beebe Stadium. Tickets are $30 and all seats are general admission except for a limited number of $50 courtside seats. Tickets must be purchased in person, with cash only, by someone at least 16 years old. A maximum of four tickets is available per person. Lost tickets will not be replaced. Tickets will not be available through the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office. Due to travel time constraints, there will not be a post-match autograph session. Pre-signed rosters will be available at the arena entrance.

The upcoming exhibition match between UNL and Northern Colorado will give Husker fans in the Panhandle an opportunity to celebrate our amazing volleyball players in person. The matchup at Chadron State continues a much-anticipated spring tradition that, over the years, has allowed fans to experience Husker Volleyball in all corners of our amazing state.”

The trip to Chadron continues Nebraska’s tradition of touring the state for spring volleyball matches. Since 2007, Nebraska has played spring matches in North Platte, Scottsbluff, Grand Island, Norfolk, Wayne, Ogallala, Kearney, McCook, Central City and Ord.

The Huskers have also announced spring matches against Iowa State on April 11 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D., and against Creighton on April 17 at D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha.

Strong Start Propels Huskers Past Wolverines in Big Ten Opener

The No. 10 Nebraska softball team scored two runs in each of the first and second innings and defeated the Michigan Wolverines, 5-2, on Friday night at Bowlin Stadium.

Alexis Jensen led NU both in the circle and offensively, as she logged three RBI and her first homer as a Husker while going 2-for-2 at the plate. In the circle, the Gretna, Neb., native threw 6.0 innings and grabbed the win to move to 9-2 on the season. She allowed two runs and four hits while striking out eight batters and allowing one walk.

Jordy Frahm grabbed the save in the circle and is now up to six on the season, one away from tying the record that current head coach Rhonda Revelle set in 1983.

With the win, the Big Red moved to 19-5 on the season and 1-0 in the Big Ten. Michigan fell to 19-7 and 0-1 in the conference.

Hannah Camenzind logged an RBI for the Huskers, while Frahm and Samantha Bland each added two hits and scored a run. Bella Bacon and Hannah Coor each crossed the plate once for Nebraska.

Frahm and Bland singled to open the bottom of the first for the Big Red, and Frahm went to third on an error while Bland advanced to second. H. Camenzind singled to score Frahm and Bland went home on a throw that caught H. Camenzind stealing to make the score 2-0.

In the bottom of the second, Bacon reached on a throwing error before Jensen knocked a two-run shot to extend the lead to 4-0.

Michigan added a pair of runs to make the score 4-2 in the top of the sixth, but NU struck back on a Jensen RBI single that scored Coor, who doubled the at-bat before.

The Wolverines mounted a threat with the bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the second, but Frahm retired three straight to clinch the save and keep the 5-2 win intact.

The Big Red will face Michigan again tomorrow, March 14, in a doubleheader. The first game is set to start at 1 p.m. (CT) and the second game will start approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Both contests will be streamed on B1G+ and can be heard across the Huskers Radio Network.
