HAY SPRINGS, Neb. - The death of a Hay Springs juvenile appears to be the result of an accidental shooting, according to the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office. As News Channel Nebraska reported earlier this month, Hay Springs Public School shared with parents that they are “saddened to report that an 8th grade student died in an accident.” The school message said the accident occurred on Sunday, March 2 in South Dakota.

While the Attorney General’s Office says the preliminary findings suggest an accidental shooting, it emphasizes that the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is still investigating.
