Pine Ridge man found guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon

A 31-year-old Pine Ridge man has been found guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon following a two-day jury trial in federal court in Rapid City.

PINE RIDGE, S.D. - A 31-year-old Pine Ridge man has been found guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon following a two-day jury trial in federal court in Rapid City.

Prosecutors say Frank Long Black Cat repeatedly stabbed another person with a knife on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of ten years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release.

Long Black Cat is scheduled to be sentenced on July 14, 2025.
