NWS: Two tornadoes touched down on Rosebud Reservation in April

ST. FRANCIS, S.D. - The National Weather Service (NWS) says survey and public reports found enough evidence of an additional tornado touchdown on the Rosebud Indian Reservation on April 28. As News Channel Nebraska recently reported, NWS previously confirmed that an EF1 tornado tore through St. Francis, injuring six people.
Now, after further information gathering, NWS believes a brief spin-up tornado touched down and produced EF0 damage to a homestead north of Mission. It tore the roof and north-facing wall off a mobile home, heavily damaged the main house, and scattered debris back to the west. Several outbuildings also suffered minor damage.
Both tornadoes are part of a larger system that produced a rash of severe weather across the region in late April.
EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories:
EF0.....65 to 85 mph
EF1.....86 to 110 mph
EF2.....111 to 135 mph
EF3.....136 to 165 mph
EF4.....166 to 200 mph
EF5.....>200 mph
The information is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the events and publication in NWS Storm Data.
