GORDON, Neb. - Rodeo fans will have the chance to meet professional bull riders during a special event June 4 at the Gordon Community Theater.

The evening will feature a showing of “The Last Rodeo,” a film about a retired rodeo star who enters a high-stakes bull riding competition to save his grandson. Along the way, he confronts his past, rediscovers his faith and learns that true courage is found in family.

PBR athletes, including Gordon native Conner Halverson, will be on hand to sign autographs and take photos. Halverson, 23, got his start at the Sheridan County Fair and went on to ride through junior high and high school before purchasing his first set of PBR gear at 18.

“It was pretty rough there at the start, just trying to get used to the different level of bulls,” Halverson told News Channel Nebraska during a recent PBR Velocity Tour stop in Lincoln. “It was a little rocky, but I adjusted. It can still be rocky even to this day, but for the most part, it’s good.”

A meal and meet-and-greet with the riders will take place from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by the movie at 7.
