Drug arrest at Valentine City Park in weekly police report

A 47-year-old South Dakota woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance after Valentine Police responded to a welfare check at the Valentine City Park on Oct. 18 around 4 p.m.

VALENTINE, Neb. — A 47-year-old South Dakota woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance after Valentine Police responded to a welfare check at the Valentine City Park on Oct. 18 around 4 p.m.

That was one of three arrests included in the Valentine Police Department’s weekly report for Oct. 12-18.

Later that evening, around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance in the northeast part of the city. A 34-year-old Nebraska man was arrested for third-degree assault.

At 10:45 p.m. the same night, a traffic stop in the 600 block of Highway 20 led to the arrest of a 27-year-old Wyoming man for driving under the influence of alcohol.

During the week, officers responded to 47 calls for service, including:

  • 22 traffic stops
  • 6 welfare checks
  • 2 assaults
  • 3 animal complaints
  • 1 non-injury accident
  • 1 fraud report
