Potential Disruption to November SNAP Benefits Could Impact Panhandle Families

BY: Panhandle Public Health District
SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits for November may not be available, potentially affecting around 3,600 households in the Nebraska Panhandle.
This means that households who rely on SNAP to help meet their basic food needs may not receive benefits for the month of November. Local food pantries, soup kitchens, and other emergency food providers could experience increased demand as a result.
“Our communities and neighbors have always looked out for one another, and that spirit of care remains strong,” said Jessica Davies, Health Director of PPHD. “While this situation is uncertain, we know that small acts of kindness, whether donating, volunteering, or simply checking in on a neighbor, can go a long way in helping one another through challenging times.”
PPHD is sharing this information to help our communities to prepare for this change in resources. There are a few resources that community members may find useful: · Find food pantry and free meal resources in your Panhandle County: https://tinyurl.com/foodWesternNE · Western Nebraska Resource Guide: https://panhandlepartnership.com/what-we-do/western-nebraska-resource-guide.html · CredibleMinds: https://pphd.crediblemind.com/
o This FREE resource includes meditations, articles on mental health, and links to local support for housing, medical care, food, and other community services.
PPHD encourages residents to stay informed, support local food programs where possible, and reach out for assistance if needed. Together, the region can continue to ensure that no one faces food insecurity alone.
Panhandle Public Health District is working together to improve the health, safety and quality of life for all who live, learn, work and play in the Panhandle. Our vision is that we are a healthier and safer Panhandle Community.
